Recounting Encounters - Search for the Diamond Staff Session 1: Dark Dealings in Hap

In this follow-up adventure to the gameday: Vault of the Dracolich, the party is called to Hap to speak to the wizard Imani.  A great item has been found called the Diamond Staff which can open countless mysteries of ancient Elven societies.

The staff is stolen by Orcs and the party must now stop the evildoers from unlocking the secrets of the elves and reclaim the diamond staff.

Backstabbing, intrigue, betrayal, and of course the Orcs, will make for a great season of Encounters.

Join us for another great season of the good the bad and the ugly as Derek from dungeonsmaster.com, Craig and I recap everything that happened at our gaming table this week.  We talk about what happened during the encounter, some of the changes that we made as DM's and talk about some of things we liked a lot and things we liked not so much.

Session 1 - Dark Dealing in Hap

The characters are brought to Hap (wether it be from a job board, a summons, of from the previous Gameday adventure) to meet with Ilmani, the retired sage.  He looks you over and hires you to accompany him over the course of the following weeks to help him seek some lost knowledge of the ancient elves.

He has an item that he recently acquired called the Diamond Staff.

The party is to leave the following morning and they have the time to explore the little village of Hap.  As the party is resting for the evening, the town bell rings, warning the villagers of an orc attack.  The party runs outside to confront the orcs and the wolves that are terrorizing the town.

Once the orcs are defeated, the party realizes that this was only a diversion and the real battle is at the wizard's tower....

Follow up where we once again talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly of this season of D&D Encounters: Search for the Diamond Staff

Another great podcast guys.
Like yourselves, we are trying the Next playtest rules this season and despite ending up with 7 players on Wednesday evening the session took an hour. I think I'll definitely look at using some of the extra info in the conversion notes to flesh each week out a little more.
Out of the 7 players 4 had played in Saturdays games day but despite recovering the staff they found no other treasure/items, so I had Imani gift each a common (+1) item (their choice of weapon or armour) as reward.
